Where Every Child Learns to Communicate
SIGN Preschool is an inclusive online early learning program for children ages 3–7 that combines spoken English with authentic American Sign Language (ASL) signs throughout every lesson.
Rather than teaching sign language as a separate subject, we use sign-supported instruction to help children build communication, language, and confidence while learning reading, writing, math, science, and the social skills they need for lifelong success.
Children hear language while seeing it, creating a rich, multi-sensory learning experience that supports understanding, encourages participation, and helps every child become a more confident communicator.
Our classrooms welcome children of all abilities because we believe communication is the foundation for learning.
Mr. Fleener has been teaching sign language to all age groups for over 15 years both in person and online. Now, we get to teach YOUR child online! We can't wait!!

The early years are the perfect time to build communication, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Hi! I'm Ms. Beth, and teaching has been my passion for as long as I can remember.
For more than 25 years, I've had the privilege of teaching children and adults in both spoken English and sign language. Throughout my career, I've worked with children of all abilities, helping them build communication skills and discover the joy of learning.
One thing I've learned is that communication is the foundation for learning.
When children can communicate, they gain confidence. They ask questions, build friendships, express their ideas, and become active participants in their own learning.
That's why I created SIGN Preschool.
Our communication-first approach combines spoken English with authentic ASL signs throughout every lesson, giving children multiple ways to understand, participate, and succeed.
Over the past decade, I've designed individualized curriculum for homeschooling families, taught in my local preschool, and since 2020, I've had the joy of teaching families online through SIGN Preschool.
With a background in disability studies, psychology, and early childhood education, my goal is simple:
To create a place where every child is welcomed, every child can communicate, and every child can develop a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Why Do We Teach With
Sign Language?
At SIGN Preschool, sign language isn't just another subject. It's one of the ways we teach.
By combining spoken English with authentic American Sign Language (ASL) signs throughout every lesson, children hear language while seeing it. This multi-sensory approach helps children build communication skills, expand their vocabulary, and develop confidence expressing themselves.
Research has shown that learning sign language can benefit all children by supporting language development, memory, visual attention, and social communication skills. It also helps children become more aware of facial expressions, body language, and other nonverbal forms of communication.
Most importantly, our goal isn't simply to teach signs.
Our goal is to help children communicate.
As children develop communication skills, they also build an American Sign Language vocabulary that can continue to grow throughout their lives.

Is SIGN Preschool only for children with disabilities?
No. SIGN Preschool is designed for all children ages 3–7.
Our communication-first approach benefits every learner, while our inclusive environment allows children of all abilities to learn together.
We welcome children who are neurotypical, autistic, Deaf, hard of hearing, have speech or language delays, or communicate in different ways. If your child has an IEP or specific learning goals, we'll do our best to support those goals throughout the school year.
Do parents need to stay with their child during lessons?
Because SIGN Preschool is currently available on demand, parents can choose how involved they would like to be during each lesson.
Many families enjoy learning alongside their child, especially during hands-on activities, while other children are comfortable working more independently. You can choose what works best for your child and your family.
Will I need to teach my child outside of class?
SIGN Preschool is designed to make learning at home easier for families.
Our current on-demand lessons give you activities your child can learn from and enjoy at home, and parents are always welcome to participate alongside their child.
As we rebuild the full SIGN Preschool program, we're continuing to add lessons, activities, and resources to create an increasingly complete early learning experience.
Will I need to buy school supplies?
For our current on-demand program, families should plan to have basic learning supplies available at home, such as paper, pencils, crayons, scissors, and other common craft supplies.
As we rebuild the full SIGN Preschool program, we plan to bring back our shipped learning kits with hands-on materials, manipulatives, games, and other resources designed to complement the lessons.
Are there any additional costs?
There are no registration fees for our current on-demand access.
SIGN Preschool is currently included with your $7/month Learn Sign Language Now On-Demand membership. Families may choose to use basic household or craft supplies with some activities, but there is no separate SIGN Preschool tuition at this time.
When the full SIGN Preschool program returns, pricing and included materials will be updated to reflect the expanded program.
Is this just educational videos or worksheets?
Not at all.
Our on-demand lessons are designed to get children singing, signing, moving, communicating, thinking, and actively participating—not simply watching a screen.
As part of the full SIGN Preschool program, we also plan to bring back live Sign Pals sessions where children can interact with their teacher and classmates, practice communication, and build friendships.
We continue to add educational resources and activities that families can use to reinforce learning between lessons.
How is SIGN Preschool different from ABCmouse®, Hooked on Phonics®, or other learning apps?
Educational apps can be useful learning tools, but SIGN Preschool is being built around something different: communication-first teaching designed by a real educator.
Our current on-demand lessons combine early learning with spoken English and authentic ASL signs, giving children opportunities to move, participate, communicate, and learn at their own pace.
The full SIGN Preschool program is designed to include:

My child is shy, energetic, or has trouble sitting still. Will they fit in?
Absolutely.
Every child has a unique personality and learning style.
Our lessons are designed to encourage movement, participation, and communication, and we strive to create a welcoming environment where every child feels comfortable learning at their own pace.
What technology do we need?
You'll need:
A reliable internet connection
A laptop or desktop computer (recommended)
A printer for optional learning materials
A tablet can also work, although we recommend a larger screen whenever possible to help children see their teacher and classmates more easily.

Absolutely!
We'll guide you through getting started and are happy to help if you have questions or run into technical issues.
What platform do you use?
Families currently access SIGN Preschool's on-demand lessons through our online learning platform as part of Learn Sign Language Now On-Demand.
When live Sign Pals sessions return as part of the full SIGN Preschool program, families will also receive information about how to access those live opportunities securely.
Can I connect with other parents?
Yes!
SIGN Preschool is part of the Learn Sign Language Now community, where families can connect with other sign language learners and users, ask questions, share experiences, and learn together.
As SIGN Preschool grows, we'll continue adding more opportunities for parents and families to connect, share ideas, and support their children's learning.
